Sweet and fluffy twinkie cake ❤️ππ!! This homemade cake with a creamy filling is one of American's favourite snacks, plus it tastes even better than the original !! In today’s article, I’m going to share with you how I made this giant chocolate covered Twinkie cake that you can easily make at home!!
INGREDIENTS :
- cake mix: 1 box
- frosting: 1 can
#For The Filling:
- flour: 5 tablespoons
- milk: 1 cup
- salt: 1/4 tsp
- vanilla: 1 teaspoon
- granulated sugar: 1 cup
- shortening: 1/2 cup
- margarine: 1/2 cup
- saltbake cake: 1/2 tsp (according to package directions)
INSTRUCTIONS :
1. First, cake should be baked according to package time and temperature. As soon as it is completely cooled, turn cake out of pan onto a large plate or platter.
2. Using a large knife or cake leveler, cut the thickness of the cake in half. Remove the top of the cake using a second plate; set aside. Make sure to flip the bottom half of the cake back into the cake pan at this stage. I prefer to make the cake all fancy and do multiple layers.
3. Then you're going to get a medium saucepan and cook in 5 T flour, 1 c milk, 1/4 tsp salt until thick (kind of like a thin gravy). Always remember that when it is too thick, it doesn’t beat up as nicely in the end. After that, remove from heat and add 1 tsp vanilla. Let cool completely (preferably, put it in the refrigerator to cool while you do the next step).
4. Cream together 1 c granulated sugar, 1/2 c crisco, 1/2 c margarine and 1/2 tsp salt in a medium bowl.
5. Now that the “gravy” is cooled completely, you can add it to the bowl of creamed ingredients and beat untill fluffy and the consistency of twinkie filling. it takes around 10 minutes.
6. And yes, this recipe makes around 2 cups of fluff. 1/2 inch of filling in a 9×13 cake is enough I suppose.
7. You'll want to spread the cream filling on the bottom cake layer, leave 1/4 inch of space around the outside of the cake. Finally, when the top layer is put back on, the cream will spread out.
8. Alright now, the top layer needs to be flipped back onto the cake carefully. And please frost as usual. You'd best put the cake in the freezer so the twinkie filling sets up and does not mix with the frosting if it squeezes out of the sides just in case you are willing to do a cake with multiple layers.
