Skutari lake |
Europe's largest birds reserve is one of the last sweet water swamp in the Mediterranean area and the largest lake on the Balkan.
The deep blue water of the Skutari lake seems to be unfathomable. The lake is situated in the Zeta-Skutari basin only 7 km away from the sea. Two thirds belong to Montenegro, one third to Albania.
The Skutari lake is one of the largest bird reserve in Europe. Not only ducks and gulls are nesting here, but also the endemic Dalmatian Pelicans and herons can be observed when they glide across the lake at dusk.
In the year 1983 the area has been declared as a national park. On a boat cruise you can enjoy the richly structured coast with numerous bays, small islands and peninsulas. No matter which of our hotels in Montenegro you choose, you reach the Skutari lake within 30 minutes driving time. |

National park "Biogradska gora" |
The national park "Biogradska gora" is one of the last three primeval forests in Europe with typical jungle vegetation. The national park comprises 5.400 ha of the central part of the mountain Bjelasica between the lakes Tara and Lim. 80% of the area is covered by forest and many trees are older then 500 years. Bird watchers can observe 150 bird types. River valleys an summits up to 2000 m developed through glacier movements. The best known and largest lake of this region is the lake Biograd. |
